Claude Price: Plans, Monthly Cost & Price History

Claude is the AI assistant made by Anthropic. You can use it for free with usage limits, and paid plans raise those limits and add features for heavier personal use or for teams. The price you pay depends on the plan, and for Pro and Team, on whether you choose monthly or annual billing.

All figures on this page come from Anthropic's official Claude pricing page, published by Claude and checked on Oct 11, 2026. Anthropic updates its plans from time to time, so confirm the current prices on that page before you subscribe.

The table lists every plan in our data, including both billing options for Pro and Team. Team prices are per seat, so the total grows with the number of people on the plan.

Claude Free

The free plan costs $0/mo and gives you access to Claude on the web and in the apps, with daily usage limits. It works well for occasional questions, short writing tasks, or trying Claude before you pay.

Claude Pro

Pro is the individual plan most regular users choose. It costs $20/mo on monthly billing, or $17/mo when billed annually. Pro gives you more usage than Free and access to additional features and models that Anthropic includes in paid plans.

Claude Max

Max is for people who use Claude heavily, for example for long working sessions or coding, and keep running into Pro limits. Max starts at $100/mo. Anthropic offers Max at more than one usage level, and the higher levels cost more; the table shows only the starting price, so check the official page for the other levels.

Claude Team

Team is built for businesses and groups that want shared billing and admin controls. It comes in two seat types:

• Standard seat: $25/mo per seat billed monthly, or $20/mo per seat billed annually.
• Premium seat: $125/mo per seat billed monthly, or $100/mo per seat billed annually.

Premium seats are meant for members who need more usage or extra capabilities. Anthropic may require a minimum number of seats on a Team plan; check the plan details on its pricing page. Larger organizations can ask Anthropic about Enterprise pricing, which is quoted separately.

Pro is the one individual plan with an annual option in our data. Paying for the year up front costs $200/yr, which works out to $17/mo instead of $20/mo.

Annual billing makes sense if you already use Claude most weeks and expect to keep doing so. If you are still deciding, monthly billing lets you stop at any time without paying for months you will not use. Team plans also have annual pricing per seat, shown in the plans table above.

• Free: you use Claude now and then and rarely see a limit message.
• Pro: Claude is part of your weekly routine for writing, research, or analysis, and the free limits slow you down.
• Max: you work with Claude for hours at a time or use it heavily for coding, and Pro limits interrupt your work.
• Team: several people need Claude at work and you want central billing and administration.

Starting on a lower plan and upgrading when limits get in the way is the cheapest way to find the right fit.

Sales tax may be added to your subscription depending on your state, so the charge on your card can be slightly higher than the listed price. Subscribing through the iPhone or Android app may go through Apple or Google billing, and the in-app price may differ from the web price.

The Claude app subscription is separate from Anthropic's developer API. API usage is billed by how much you use, and a Pro or Max subscription does not include API credits.

ChatGPT from OpenAI and Google's Gemini also pair a free version with paid tiers. Usage limits, features, and model access differ between them. The most reliable way to compare is to try each free version on the tasks you do most often before paying.
