QuickBooks Price: Plans, Monthly Cost & Price History

QuickBooks Online is the cloud accounting software from Intuit. Small businesses use it to send invoices, track income and expenses, connect bank accounts, and prepare reports for tax time. Intuit sells it in four plans, and each step up adds more users and more features.

The current plan prices on this page come from Fit Small Business and were checked on Oct 11, 2026. Earlier prices come from NerdWallet. Intuit changes its prices and runs promotions often, so confirm the current rate on the official QuickBooks pricing page before you buy.

The cheapest plan, Simple Start, costs $38/mo. The most complete plan, Advanced, costs $340/mo. Essentials and Plus sit in between.

Simple Start

Simple Start at $38/mo covers the basics: invoicing, expense tracking, bank connections, and standard reports. It is built for a sole proprietor or a very small business where one person handles the books.

Essentials

Essentials costs $85/mo. It allows more users than Simple Start and adds bill management, so you can track and pay what you owe vendors. It also adds time tracking, which helps if you bill clients by the hour.

Plus

Plus costs $140/mo and is the plan many growing product and service businesses settle on. It adds inventory tracking and project profitability reports on top of everything in Essentials, and it allows more users again.

Advanced

Advanced costs $340/mo. It is aimed at larger small businesses that need the highest user limit, custom user roles, workflow automation, and more detailed reporting. Most businesses with one bookkeeper and simple sales will not need it.

QuickBooks Online prices have gone up since mid-2025. The table shows what three of the plans cost in July 2025, according to NerdWallet.

Since then, Essentials has gone from $75/mo to $85/mo, Plus from $115/mo to $140/mo, and Advanced from $275/mo to $340/mo. The two data sets come from different publishers, so a small part of the gap may reflect how each one reported prices. Existing subscribers are usually told about a change before it reaches their bill.

The plan price is not always the full bill. Several common costs sit outside it:

• Payroll: running payroll through QuickBooks is a separate subscription with its own fees.
• Payments: if customers pay invoices by card or bank transfer through QuickBooks, Intuit charges processing fees on those payments.
• Add-ons and apps: extra features, such as advanced time tracking or third-party integrations, may carry their own charges.
• Sales tax: depending on your state, sales tax may be added to the subscription.

Before you commit, add up the plan, any payroll you need, and the payment fees you expect to pay. That total is a better basis for comparing QuickBooks with other accounting software than the plan price alone.

Intuit often offers new customers a discount for the first few months or a free trial. The terms change regularly, so read the offer carefully and note when the regular price starts. Accountants and bookkeepers sometimes get access through partner programs, and some may be able to set up your subscription at a different rate.

The simplest way to save is to choose the lowest plan that covers what you do today. You can move up to a higher plan later as you add staff, inventory, or projects.

• Simple Start: you work alone, send invoices, and need clean records for tax time.
• Essentials: a few people need access, and you want to manage bills and track time.
• Plus: you sell physical products and need inventory tracking, or you want to see profit by project.
• Advanced: your team is larger, and you need custom permissions and automation.
