Mario Kart World Price: Retail, Deals & Price History

Mario Kart World is Nintendo's racing game for the Switch 2. It released on 5 June 2025 and is the system's flagship launch title, with an open world that links its tracks. The game does not run on the original Switch, so the full cost of playing includes the console. That is why the bundles matter as much as the game price.

The list price came from Deku Deals. It was checked on Oct 13, 2026. Stores may discount the game, but Nintendo's own price rarely moves, and a discount from a retailer is temporary.

If you do not own a Switch 2 yet, a bundle can be the cheapest way in. Nintendo has offered bundles that pair the console with a game code and a Nintendo Switch Online membership.

The Switch 2 console alone rose to $499.99 on 1 September 2026. The Mario Kart World bundle is $549.99, and it includes the console, a digital copy of the game and a three-month Nintendo Switch Online membership, according to Siliconera. A Switch Sports Resort bundle is $529.99. The Mario Kart World bundle was due in late September 2026, so check availability before you plan around it.

Add up the pieces before you decide. Buying the console and the game separately costs the sum of the two prices, while a bundle may save a little, depending on what is included.

The console price changed this year, which affects the total for a new buyer.

Before 1 September 2026 the console sold for $449.99. After that date it rose to the higher figure above. Bundles announced after the change are priced against the new console price, so older bundle prices you see in reviews may no longer apply.

The game comes as a cartridge or as a digital download. Nintendo's list price for the game is the same figure, and stores may price the physical copy differently. Physical copies can be resold or lent to a friend, and digital copies save shelf space and load from the console's storage. Switch 2 storage is limited by the console's built-in memory, so a large digital library may need a microSD Express card, which costs extra.

Racing online needs a Nintendo Switch Online membership. The individual plan is $19.99/yr, based on the Siliconera report. A bundle that includes a membership period can cover your first few months of online play. Other costs to expect:

• Extra controllers. A second set of Joy-Con 2 or a Pro Controller lets friends race in local play.
• Storage. A microSD Express card if the console fills up.
• A carrying case and screen protection if you play in handheld mode.

• Retailer promotions. Stores like Amazon, Best Buy and Target sometimes discount games, though Nintendo titles are often held at list price.
• Bundles. A bundle may lower the cost of getting both the console and the game.
• Console price changes. Hardware cost changes the total even if the game stays the same.
• Format. Digital and physical copies may differ in promotions.

If you own a Switch 2 and enjoy racing games, it is one of the system's best-known titles, and it supports local play with friends. If you do not own a Switch 2, the total cost is the console plus the game, which is a bigger commitment than the game price suggests. A bundle makes that easier to compare. If you only play occasionally, you may prefer to wait for a bundle or a retailer deal.

Buy from Nintendo's US store, major electronics retailers or game stores. Check that the listing says Nintendo Switch 2 and not the original Switch, since a few Switch games have similar names. If you buy a bundle, read what the listing includes, such as the digital code and membership length, and note the return policy for opened digital products.
