TSA Precheck Cost: Prices, Fees & Ways to Save
New enrollment, five-year membership
$79.75 – $85
TSA PreCheck costs $79.75 – $85 for a new five-year membership, depending on which enrollment provider you use, according to TSA.
TSA PreCheck lets approved travelers use dedicated screening lanes at participating U.S. airports, usually without removing shoes, belts, laptops, or light jackets. The Transportation Security Administration runs the program, but you enroll and pay through one of its authorized private providers, and each provider sets its own price.
All prices on this page come from one official source, the PreCheck enrollment page published by the TSA, and we checked them on Oct 11, 2026. Providers can change their fees, so confirm the current price on tsa.gov or on the provider's site before you apply.
TSA PreCheck Cost by Provider
The TSA lists three enrollment providers. The application, background check, and five-year membership are the same program whichever one you choose; the differences are price, the number of enrollment locations, and how the appointment works.
New enrollment by provider (five years)
| Item | Price |
|---|---|
| New enrollment: IDEMIA | $79.75 |
| New enrollment: Telos | $85 |
| New enrollment: CLEAR | $84.95 |
Source: TSA: TSA PreCheck
- IDEMIA charges $79.75, the lowest new-enrollment price in our data.
- Telos charges $85.
- CLEAR charges $84.95 for PreCheck enrollment. The TSA page also notes that PreCheck can be included with a CLEAR+ membership, subject to CLEAR's terms. CLEAR+ is a separate paid product, so compare the full cost before signing up for it just to get PreCheck.
The number of enrollment centers also differs by provider. If one provider's nearest location is far away, paying a little more for a closer appointment can be worth it.
TSA PreCheck Renewal Cost
Your membership lasts five years. Renewal costs less than first-time enrollment, and the price depends on the provider and on whether you renew online or in person.
Renewal by provider
| Item | Price |
|---|---|
| Renewal online: IDEMIA | $58.75 |
| Renewal in person: IDEMIA | $66.75 |
| Renewal online: Telos | $69.95 |
Source: TSA: TSA PreCheck
Online renewal at IDEMIA costs $58.75, compared with $66.75 in person. Telos lists $69.95 for online renewal; the TSA page marked its in-person renewal option as coming soon when we checked. Most members can renew online without a new appointment, but the TSA may ask some people to renew in person, for example to update their information.
You can usually renew with a different provider from the one you first enrolled with. Compare renewal prices before your membership expires.
What You Pay For
The fee covers the application, the in-person enrollment appointment (fingerprints and identity documents), the background check, and five years of membership. It is non-refundable, so if your application is denied you don't get the money back. Read the eligibility rules on tsa.gov before you pay.
There is no separate charge per flight or per airport. Once approved, you add your Known Traveler Number to your airline reservations, and PreCheck appears on eligible boarding passes. Participating airlines and airports change over time, so check the TSA's list if you fly a smaller carrier.
Ways to Pay Less for TSA PreCheck
- Pick the cheaper provider if its enrollment center is convenient for you.
- Renew online when you are eligible. At IDEMIA, online renewal costs less than in person.
- Check your credit card benefits. Some travel credit cards and loyalty programs reimburse the PreCheck application fee. The card issuer, not the TSA, decides the terms.
- Consider Global Entry if you travel abroad. U.S. Customs and Border Protection's Global Entry program includes TSA PreCheck benefits. It has its own application fee and interview process, so check CBP's site for the current price.
- Children age 17 and under can usually use PreCheck lanes with an enrolled parent or guardian on the same reservation, so they may not need their own membership. Confirm the current rule on tsa.gov.
