Jet Ski Price: New, Used & Ownership Costs

"Jet Ski" is a brand name that has become a common word for any personal watercraft (PWC). The machines you will actually shop for come from makers such as Sea-Doo and Yamaha, whose models range from small, lightweight entry craft to large, supercharged touring and performance models. The price you pay depends mostly on which of those you choose.

The prices below are starting manufacturer's suggested retail prices (MSRP) for the 2027 model year, taken from each manufacturer's own site. They do not include freight and setup, dealer fees, taxes, a trailer or registration.

Sea-Doo's lineup starts with the Spark and works upward through the GTI, GTX and performance models.

The Spark has the lowest starting price at $7,099. The GTI 130 starts at $12,299, the GTI SE at $13,499, and the GTX at $18,149. The Spark X Trixx is listed at $10,749. Higher up the range, the Wake Pro starts at $20,149, the RXP-X at $23,699, and the GTX Limited at $23,849.

Check the model-year label on any price you see. A listing for a 2026 model and one for a 2027 model of a similar craft can differ.

Yamaha's WaveRunner lineup covers a similar spread, from lightweight recreational craft to the supercharged-class flagships.

The JetBlaster, a compact stand-up-style craft, starts at $8,999. The VX-C starts at $11,599 and the SuperJet at $11,999. Moving up, the GP HO starts at $17,499, the FX HO at $17,899, and the FX Limited SVHO at $22,999.

Within a brand, the differences in price usually come down to a few things.

• Engine and power. Larger and supercharged engines cost more than basic ones.
• Seating capacity and hull size. Bigger craft that carry more people usually cost more.
• Features. Audio, touchscreen displays, premium seating, wake-sports gear and storage options add to the starting price.
• Use. Recreational, touring, performance and stand-up craft are priced differently.
• Model year. A new-model-year price and last year's leftover inventory can differ, so ask what the dealer has in stock.

A jet ski purchase involves more than the base price. Most of these items vary by location, so check them with a dealer and your state before you budget.

• Freight, setup and dealer fees. Dealers often charge to deliver and prepare a new craft, and the amount varies.
• Trailer. Many buyers need one to transport the craft, and it may not be included in the base price.
• Registration and taxes. Rules vary by state, so check with your state boating or motor vehicle agency.
• Insurance. Quotes depend on the craft, your location and your history, so ask insurers before you buy.
• Storage and winterizing. Where you keep the craft, and whether you need seasonal service, will add ongoing cost.
• Safety gear. Life jackets and other required equipment add to the total, and requirements vary by state.
• Maintenance. Routine service, fuel and oil add up over the season.

Used jet skis are widely sold, and a used craft costs less up front. The tradeoff is condition and history. If you are looking at a used machine, ask for service records and an engine hours reading, and have a qualified marine mechanic inspect it before you buy. Check that the title, registration and hull identification number match, and ask whether the craft was used in salt water, since that can affect wear.
