Searches for "R1 price" almost always mean the Yamaha YZF-R1, the brand's liter class supersport and one of the best known sportbikes of the past two decades. It competes with the top superbikes from Kawasaki, Honda, Suzuki, Ducati, BMW, and Aprilia, and it is a favorite among track riders. Yamaha sells the standard R1 and the more equipped R1M.

The 2026 R1 starts at $19,199, and the R1M starts at $27,899, both from Motorcycle.com and Motorcycle.com. Those spec pages show no publication date, so confirm the numbers with a Yamaha dealer.

The R1M is the premium model, with higher grade chassis and electronic components over the standard bike. Most street riders do not need that spec, and many track riders buy the standard R1 and modify it.

The older figure is a reminder that sportbike prices have drifted up over time, as they have for most motorcycles. One earlier model year is not enough to call a long term trend, so treat it as context.

• Choose the R1 if you want the core Yamaha superbike at the lower price and plan to ride mostly on the street or occasional track days.
