X Premium Cost: Average Fees Explained

Updated  2 sources

X Premium price range

$3 – $40/mo

X Premium is the paid subscription for the social network formerly known as Twitter. It comes in three tiers called Basic, Premium, and Premium+, and each step up adds features such as post editing, a verification checkmark, reduced ads, and larger Grok limits. The right tier depends mostly on whether you want the checkmark and fewer ads or only a few quality of life extras.

X's own help pages block automated reading, so the prices on this page come from MacRumors, which listed all three tiers in its March 2026 reporting and was checked on Oct 14, 2026. A second outlet, Social Rails, repeats the top tier price. These are web prices before tax. Subscribing inside the iPhone or Android app can cost more because of app store fees, so check the price at checkout on your own device.

How much does X Premium cost per month?

On the web, the monthly price rises with each tier. Basic costs $3/mo, Premium costs $8/mo, and Premium+ costs $40/mo.

Basic (web, monthly) $3/mo
Premium (web, monthly) $8/mo
Premium+ (web, monthly) $40/mo

Premium+ costs several times what Premium does, so the jump between the top two tiers is the main decision. Basic is the cheapest way to get editing and longer posts without paying for a checkmark.

Is annual billing cheaper?

Yes. Paying for a full year of Basic costs $32/yr, Premium costs $84/yr, and Premium+ costs $395/yr.

Compare each yearly figure with twelve months of the monthly price above. The yearly plan saves some money on every tier, and the saving is largest in dollar terms on Premium+. The trade-off is paying for the whole year up front.

What each tier is for

Basic is the entry tier. It adds editing and longer posts, but it does not include a blue checkmark and it does not remove ads.

Premium is the tier most individual creators pick. It adds the checkmark, a larger reply boost, and eligibility for creator payouts, along with reduced ads.

Premium+ removes ads from the main timelines and carries the highest Grok limits and the biggest reply boost. Since March 2026 it is also the only tier with X Pro, the multi column web tool that used to be called TweetDeck. Social Rails reports that Premium subscribers lost X Pro access on that date and that Premium+ now costs $40/mo to get it.

Check the plan comparison inside X before you pay, because feature limits and payout eligibility rules change.

What changes the price you pay

  • Where you subscribe: web checkout is the cheapest route. App store billing adds a markup.
  • Billing period: annual billing lowers the effective monthly cost.
  • Tax: sales tax or similar charges may be added at checkout depending on your state.
  • Region: prices outside the United States differ, and this page covers US prices only.

How to pay less

Start at the web checkout instead of an app store, and compare the yearly price with the monthly one before you choose. If you only want editing and longer posts, Basic covers that for the lowest cost. Pay for Premium or Premium+ only when you will use the checkmark, the reply boost, or X Pro, and revisit the plan at each renewal to see whether you still use those features.

Does X Premium raise prices often?

X has changed what each tier includes more than once, and the March 2026 move of X Pro into Premium+ happened without a notice to subscribers, according to MacRumors. If a feature matters to you, confirm it is still in your tier before renewing.
