Google Fiber Price: Plans, Monthly Cost & Fees

Updated  1 source

Starting monthly price

$70/mo

Google Fiber is a fiber-optic home internet provider owned by Alphabet, Google's parent company. It offers symmetrical speeds, meaning upload speeds match download speeds, which helps with video calls, cloud backups, and sending large files. Service is only available in certain US metro areas, so the first step is checking whether your address is covered.

Prices depend on the speed tier you choose. All figures on this page are published by Google Fiber on its official plans page and were checked on Oct 11, 2026. Google Fiber has been reported to be renaming its plans in 2026, so plan names may differ on the current page. Confirm prices and names for your address on the Google Fiber site before you order.

Google Fiber Plans and Monthly Prices

The table lists the three speed tiers shown on the plans page during our check, each with its monthly price.

1 Gig

The 1 Gig plan costs $70/mo and is Google Fiber's entry plan. Google describes it as its original internet service, offered at the same price since 2012, and a router is included. One gigabit is enough for most households, including several people streaming in HD or 4K, gaming, and working from home at the same time.

3 Gig

The 3 Gig plan costs $100/mo and includes a Wi-Fi 7 router. Google pitches it at busy households where several people work, learn, and play online at once. The extra speed matters most if you have many connected devices, move very large files, or have wired devices that can use multi-gig speeds.

8 Gig

The 8 Gig plan costs $150/mo and also includes a Wi-Fi 7 router. It is the fastest tier in our data. Few home devices can use this much bandwidth on their own, so the plan mainly suits power users, home offices with heavy upload needs, and households with wired networking equipment rated for multi-gig speeds.

Which Google Fiber Plan Should You Get?

  • 1 Gig at $70/mo: the right fit for most homes. It covers streaming, video calls, and gaming for a typical family.
  • 3 Gig at $100/mo: worth it if your household regularly pushes the limits of a gigabit connection, or if you want the newer Wi-Fi 7 router.
  • 8 Gig at $150/mo: for people who know they need multi-gig speeds and have the hardware to use them.

Your Wi-Fi devices often set the real limit. Many phones and laptops cannot reach multi-gig speeds over Wi-Fi, so a faster plan does not always mean faster browsing on every device.

Taxes and Fees on Top of the Plan Price

Google Fiber's plans page states that prices are plus taxes and a local access fee. The local access fee is not part of our data and may vary by city, so your monthly bill will be higher than the plan price shown here. Ask for an itemized total when you sign up.

Other charges to check before you order:

  • Installation: ask whether standard installation is included for your address and whether extra work, such as new wiring, costs more.
  • Equipment: a router is included with each plan, but extra mesh points or other add-ons may cost more.
  • Phone and TV: Google Fiber may offer home phone service or other add-ons in some areas, billed separately.

Contracts and Price Changes

Google Fiber has long promoted month-to-month service without annual contracts or data caps. Terms can change and may vary by market, so read the terms of service for your address before signing up.

Plan names and speed tiers have shifted over time. A January 2026 news report described a rebranding of Google Fiber's plans, and the names you see on the current site may not match the ones in this guide. The prices in our data are the ones the plans page showed when we checked.

How Google Fiber Compares

Cable internet and other fiber providers in the same city may offer lower introductory prices, slower entry tiers, or bundles with TV and mobile service. Compare the price after any promotion ends, upload speeds, equipment fees, and contract terms. Cable plans often have much slower upload speeds than download speeds, which is where symmetrical fiber stands apart.
