RTX 4070 Price: Retail, Deals & Price History

Updated  2 sources

Launch MSRP

$599

The GeForce RTX 4070 is a 12 GB graphics card NVIDIA released in 2023 for 1440p gaming. NVIDIA has since discontinued it, and the company's newer cards have replaced it in the lineup. That changes how to read its price. The launch MSRP is a historical figure, not a current store price, and what you find today comes from leftover new stock, third-party sellers and used cards.

The MSRP and the current listing figures come from GPUDeals, checked on Oct 13, 2026. Market prices for a discontinued card move around, so treat every number below as a snapshot.

RTX 4070 launch price

NVIDIA's MSRP was $599 when the card launched. An MSRP is the price NVIDIA suggested for its own reference card. Board partners such as ASUS, MSI and Gigabyte set their own prices, and many of their models sold above or below the suggested figure. The number is useful mainly as a yardstick: it shows how far today's listings sit from the original price.

RTX 4070 price right now

With production over, stock is limited, and listings tend to sit above the original MSRP. In October 2026 a price tracker showed the lowest Amazon listing at $740 and the lowest eBay listing at $737. A second tracker showed marketplace deals starting at $716.

Those figures come from price trackers that scan Amazon and eBay, so a low listing may be a third-party seller, and eBay listings can include used cards. They are not Nvidia or retailer list prices. A listing may also show a card that is out of stock, or a renewed unit that is not new. Open the product page and read the seller name and condition before you buy.

Why the RTX 4070 costs more than MSRP now

Several things may explain the gap, though no source confirms the cause:

  • The card is discontinued, so new stock is limited.
  • Retailers and resellers set their own prices once supply thins out.
  • Demand for 12 GB cards remains steady among 1440p gamers.
  • Marketplace sellers may price used cards close to new ones when new stock is scarce.

If the listing price is far above the launch MSRP, it is worth comparing against current-generation cards. A newer card at a similar price may offer more performance and a longer support window.

RTX 4070 vs RTX 4070 Super

The RTX 4070 Super was released later as a step up from the base card, with a similar price at launch according to trackers. It is also an older generation now, and its market price is high. When you compare the two, check the actual listings. Do not assume the Super is more expensive or cheaper, because stock and seller mix change the order.

Buying new, renewed or used

  • New. Best for warranty coverage, though new stock is hard to find at a fair price.
  • Renewed. Amazon-style renewed cards are cheaper but are not new, and warranties vary.
  • Used. Cheapest in many cases, but you take on the risk of wear. Mining history is a common concern with older cards, and a card that was run hard may fail sooner.

For used purchases, ask for photos, check the seller's return policy and test the card right away with a graphics stress test. Pay with a method that offers buyer protection.

Is the RTX 4070 still worth buying?

It was a strong 1440p card, and it still plays most games well at that resolution. The question is price. If you find one near the original MSRP, it can still make sense. If the listing is much higher, a current-generation card, or a competitor card at the same price, might give you more for the money. Also consider power and size. Check your case clearance and power supply against NVIDIA's listed requirements before you order.

Where to buy

Stick with major retailers and the manufacturers' stores for new cards. Amazon, Newegg, Micro Center and Best Buy may still list stock, and each shows seller details on the product page. Be careful with listings that look unusually cheap. They can be scams, mislabeled cards or cards with no warranty.

Frequently asked questions

How much is the RTX 4070?

The launch MSRP was $599. Current listings in October 2026 were higher, starting around $716.

Is the RTX 4070 discontinued?

Yes. NVIDIA no longer makes it, so what you can buy is leftover new stock, renewed cards or used cards.

Is the MSRP the price I will pay?

No. MSRP is the launch suggestion, and the card is no longer sold at that price from NVIDIA. Marketplace listings are different.

Where is the cheapest RTX 4070?

Trackers showed eBay at $737 and Amazon at $740 in October 2026. Used and renewed cards may be cheaper, and those listings carry more risk.

Should I buy a used RTX 4070?

It can save money. Check the seller's return policy, ask about the card's history and test it quickly after delivery.

Will the price come down?

It may, as newer cards arrive, but no source gives a date. Compare any deal with the launch MSRP and the tracker figures above.
