VR Headset Price: Retail, Deals & Price History

A VR headset is a screen you wear, plus the tracking, processor and controllers that make it work. Standalone headsets such as the Meta Quest line carry everything in the headset. PC streaming headsets, like Valve's Steam Frame, can also run games from a gaming PC. The price rises with display quality, storage, tracking and how much the maker leans on a computer.

Headset prices went up in 2026. PC Gamer notes that the Quest 3S list price has gone up, and Engadget says the Steam Frame is hard to recommend when the Quest headsets deliver a similar experience for less. The prices below carry their dates.

The Meta Quest 3S 128GB is $349, per PC Gamer in October 2026. The Quest 3 is $600, which Engadget calls its new price. Valve's Steam Frame is $1,059 for 256GB and $1,299 for 1TB, with controllers included. The Samsung Galaxy XR is $1,799, and the Apple Vision Pro with the M5 chip is $3,499, both from Tom's Guide.

The Quest 3S 128GB launched at an original price of $299, according to PC Gamer, and its current list price is the higher figure shown above. A Prime Day deal in October 2026 pushed it slightly under its original price, but a promotional price like that does not stay.

The Steam Frame has optional accessories.

The power supply is $29, and the accessory replacement kit, which includes a face gasket, head cushion and light blocker, is $49. The ergonomic accessories kit is $59. Engadget notes that you do not need the power supply if you already own a high-power USB-C charger.

• Console: PlayStation VR2 connects to a PlayStation, and Tom's Guide lists it among its picks.
• PC streaming: The Steam Frame is built to stream from a gaming PC and can play standalone titles as well.
• Spatial computing: The Vision Pro and Galaxy XR sit in the premium band for mixed reality.

The prices fall into three bands. The Quest headsets form the lower band and need no extra hardware. The Steam Frame sits in the middle band and makes more sense if you already own a gaming PC, because it streams games from it. The Galaxy XR and Vision Pro form the upper band and aim at mixed reality and spatial computing, not only games. Compare the cost of what you must add, such as a PC or a subscription, along with the headset itself.

Storage size is a direct driver, as the Steam Frame's two capacities show. Display quality, tracking and the processor affect the tier. Mixed reality headsets that blend the real world with graphics cost more than games-focused headsets. Included controllers matter too, since some headsets sell them separately. Check the box contents before comparing prices.

Games and apps are separate purchases. A carrying case, a strap, a charging dock and prescription lens inserts are common extras. Engadget notes that prescription lenses from Zenni Optical for other headsets are a separate purchase, and pricing for the Steam Frame was not yet available. A PC headset also needs a gaming PC, which is a separate cost.
