Powerball Tickets Cost: Prices, Fees & Ways to Save
Powerball ticket price
$2
A Powerball ticket costs $2 per play, according to the Texas Lottery. Optional add-ons such as Power Play cost extra per play.
Powerball is a multi-state lottery game sold through state lotteries across most of the United States. The base price per play is the same nationwide. What you spend depends on how many plays you buy, which add-ons you choose and how many drawings you enter.
The prices on this page come from two state lottery websites: the Texas Lottery for the base ticket and Power Play, and the Florida Lottery for Double Play. We checked them on Oct 11, 2026. Rules and add-ons can differ by state, so confirm the details with your own state lottery.
How Much Does a Powerball Ticket Cost?
One Powerball play costs $2. A play is one set of numbers: five white-ball numbers and one red Powerball number. You can pick the numbers yourself or ask the retailer for a Quick Pick, where the terminal chooses them at random. The price is the same either way.
If you buy more than one play on the same ticket, you pay $2 for each. Your total is the per-play price multiplied by the number of plays and by the number of drawings you enter.
Powerball Add-On Prices
Some states offer optional add-ons that you buy with the base play. Each one costs extra for every play on the ticket.
Add-ons (per play)
| Item | Price |
|---|---|
| Power Play add-on (per play) | $1 |
| Double Play add-on (per play) | $1 |

Power Play
Power Play costs $1 more per play, according to the Texas Lottery. It multiplies non-jackpot prizes. It does not change the jackpot. In most states, if you add it, it applies to every play on that ticket.
Double Play
Double Play costs $1 per play, according to the Florida Lottery. It enters your numbers in a separate drawing held after the main Powerball drawing. Double Play is offered only in some states, so ask your state lottery whether it is available where you live.
How Much You Spend on a Ticket
A few examples show how the cost adds up. Each line uses the per-play prices above:
- One play with no add-ons costs $2.
- One play with Power Play costs the base price plus $1.
- Several plays cost the base price times the number of plays, plus any add-on for each play.
- Entering several drawings in advance multiplies the cost of the ticket by the number of drawings.
Many states also let you buy for several consecutive drawings at once. That does not change the price per play; it just means you pay for all of the drawings up front.
Powerball Drawing Days
Powerball drawings are held three times a week, on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday nights. Each ticket is for a specific drawing date unless you buy several drawings at once. Sales close shortly before each drawing, and the cutoff time is set by your state lottery.
Where to Buy Powerball Tickets
You can buy Powerball tickets from licensed lottery retailers, such as convenience stores, gas stations and grocery stores, in participating states. Some states also sell tickets online through the official state lottery website or app.
Each state sets its own rules for online sales, the minimum age to play and how prizes are claimed. Buy only from licensed retailers or official state lottery channels. Third-party apps and courier services are not allowed in every state.
