Rivian Price: MSRP, Trims & Real-World Cost

Rivian sells a small lineup directly to buyers: the R1T pickup, the R1S SUV, and the R2, which is only starting to reach customers. Because there is no dealer network, there is no dealer markup to negotiate, and the price you see on the configurator is the price you pay before taxes and registration.

Rivian pricing depends on the model, the motor configuration, and the battery and equipment pack. The sections below separate what is listed as a destination-inclusive price from what is listed as a starting MSRP, since the two are not the same number.

Today's Rivian lineup spans a wide range. The R1T and R1S use the same basic platform, and the SUV starts a little above the pickup in the Dual Motor Standard Pack. The R2 is the lower-priced model that Rivian is rolling out in stages.

The R1T and R1S rows in the list above include the destination charge. The three R2 rows are labeled as starting MSRPs, so the destination charge may be added on top. Confirm that on Rivian's site before comparing the R2 against the R1 models.

The R2 trims also arrive at different times. The source lists the Premium for late 2026 and the Standard for the first half of 2027. Those dates can shift.

The top of the range is far from the entry price. Quad Motor versions with the Max Pack and the Launch Edition cost much more than the Dual Motor Standard Pack, and the step from one to the next is large.

The Launch Edition adds to the already high Quad Motor Max Pack price on both the pickup and the SUV. If the entry trim covers your needs, the gap between it and the Launch Edition is the cheapest way to see how much of a premium you are paying for the badge and equipment.

The pickup is the cheaper vehicle in the base Dual Motor Standard Pack, and the SUV costs more at the same level. The same pattern holds at the top: the R1S Quad Motor versions are priced above the matching R1T versions.

• R1T: pickup. Lowest of the two at the entry level.
• R1S: SUV. Priced above the R1T at the same pack level.
• R2: the newer, lower-priced model, with the lowest starting prices in the lineup.

Rivian sells directly, so the dealer markups common on scarce trucks and SUVs generally do not apply to a new Rivian. What can change the total is the order itself: paint color, wheels, and the equipment packs you select in the configurator. Those choices are not part of the rows above, so the price you configure may be higher than the starting figure.

• Insurance: premiums for large electric trucks and SUVs can be high, and they vary by driver and location. Get quotes before ordering.
• Charging: home charging is usually cheaper per mile than gasoline, but a home charger may need installation. Public fast charging costs more.
• Maintenance: no oil changes, but tires, brakes, and suspension service still apply, and tire wear depends on how you drive.
• Service access: Rivian has its own service centers and mobile service rather than a dealer network, so check what is near you.

Rivian offers loans and leases, and the rate depends on your credit, the term, and the money you put down. Lease terms add mileage limits and residual values.
