Minecraft Realms Price: Plans, Monthly Cost & Price History
Realms plans, monthly
$3.99 – $7.99/mo
Minecraft Realms costs $3.99 – $7.99/mo depending on your edition and how many players you need, according to Minecraft.
Minecraft Realms is Mojang's official subscription for hosting a private Minecraft world online. Mojang runs the server, so your world stays available to invited friends even when you are not playing, and you do not have to set up or maintain your own server. The price depends on which edition of Minecraft you play and how many people you want in the world.
The prices on this page are published by Minecraft on the official Realms page and were checked on Oct 11, 2026. Prices can change and may vary by store and country, so confirm the current rate on minecraft.net or in the game before you subscribe.

Realms for Bedrock Edition
The basic Bedrock plan costs $3.99/mo and supports up to 3 players at once, counting you. It is the cheapest way to keep a shared world online for a sibling or a couple of close friends.
Realms Plus for Bedrock Edition
Realms Plus costs $7.99/mo and raises the limit to 11 players at once. It also includes access to a rotating catalog of Minecraft Marketplace content, such as worlds, skin packs, and texture packs, that you can use while subscribed. Choose it for a larger friend group, or if you would otherwise buy Marketplace content.
Realms for Java Edition
The Java Edition plan costs $7.99/mo and supports up to 11 players at once. Java Realms run the standard game and do not support custom server mods or plugins the way a self-hosted Java server can.
Bedrock vs. Java Realms: Which Do You Need?
Your edition decides the plan, because Bedrock and Java worlds cannot be shared across editions. A Java Realm only works with Java Edition, and a Bedrock Realm only works with Bedrock Edition.
- Bedrock Realm: friends can join from Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, phones, tablets, and Windows, all in the same world.
- Java Realm: everyone needs Java Edition on a computer.
If your group plays on a mix of consoles and phones, Bedrock is the practical choice. If everyone plays on PC and prefers Java, use the Java plan.
Is Realms Plus Worth It Over the Basic Plan?
For small groups that only want to keep one world online, the basic Bedrock plan at $3.99/mo is enough. Realms Plus at $7.99/mo makes sense when you regularly have more than three people playing together, or when your family would use the Marketplace catalog it includes.
Realms Plus content is available only while the subscription is active. If you cancel, you lose access to the catalog items, though worlds you built yourself can be downloaded and kept.
Realms vs. Running Your Own Server
Realms is the simplest option because Mojang handles hosting, backups, and updates. The trade-off is control: player limits are fixed, and Java Realms offer less customization than a private server.
Experienced players sometimes host a free server on their own computer or rent one from a third-party hosting company. Those options can support more players and mods, but they require setup and upkeep, and a home server is only online while your computer is on. Prices from hosting companies vary; we do not track them.
Extra Costs and Billing
Realms is billed through the store you use: the Minecraft website, the Microsoft Store, the Xbox, PlayStation, or Nintendo store, or the Apple or Google app store. Sales tax may be added depending on your state, and the final price can differ slightly between platforms. Store gift cards and promotions can sometimes lower the cost.
You also need a copy of Minecraft for each player. Realms gives you a hosted world, and it does not include the game itself.
Ways to Save on Minecraft Realms
- Start with the basic Bedrock plan if your group is three people or fewer.
- Share one Realm among friends instead of each person paying for their own.
- Use Realms Plus only if you would use the Marketplace catalog or need more than three players.
- Cancel when your group takes a break, after downloading your world.
