Old School RuneScape is free to start, and membership is the paid tier that Jagex sells on top of it. What you pay depends mostly on how long you commit and whether you pay with a card or with a Bond. Membership prices went up in 2026, and the older numbers still circulate on forums and guide sites. If a page quotes a lower monthly rate, it is probably describing the earlier price list. Always compare against the official membership page before you buy.

There are two main ways to pay for membership directly. The one month plan renews monthly and is the most flexible. The twelve month plan lowers the monthly rate to $10.99/mo, which comes to $131.88/yr when billed once for the full year.

The headline one month rate is $14.99/mo. Prices are listed by RuneScape and were last checked on Oct 14, 2026, so treat them as a snapshot and confirm the live price at checkout. Taxes may be added depending on where you live.

A Bond is a one-time purchase that you can use to pay for membership time instead of paying by card each month. Jagex adjusts Bond prices when it changes the one month membership price, so the two move together. Bonds are sold in bundles, and larger bundles cost less per Bond.

A single Bond is $9.99. Buying three costs $29.95 and buying five costs $48.99, so a bundle is cheaper than the same number of single Bonds. Ten Bonds cost $96.99.

Because a Bond can be redeemed for membership time, some players use Bonds to stretch a budget or to gift time. Check inside the game and on the official support pages for how redemption and trading work before you spend.

The twelve month plan has the lowest rate per month, but it asks for the full year up front. The one month plan costs more per month and lets you stop whenever you like.

The Jagex announcement also states that the six month membership package was removed from sale. If you see a six month price on a third-party site, it is out of date.

Jagex stated that members on an active monthly subscription that began before a cutoff in 2024 keep a grandfathered rate and were not affected by the 2026 increase. That protection applies only while the subscription stays active. If it lapses, a new subscription is charged at the current price list.

If you think you are on an older rate, look at your billing page rather than relying on memory. The amount shown there is what you will actually be charged.

• Plan length. Longer plans lower the monthly figure.
• Payment method. Card billing and Bonds are priced separately.
• Currency and region. Jagex lists separate prices for each currency. The US figures on this page are in dollars. Other regions see different amounts.
• Platform. Mobile app stores may add their own pricing and fees, so a purchase made through a store can differ from one made on the website. Check the store listing.
