GT2RS Price: MSRP, Trims & Real-World Cost

Updated  3 sources

2018 original MSRP

$293,200

The 911 GT2 RS is the most extreme road-going 911 from the 991.2 generation: rear-wheel drive, twin-turbocharged, and built in limited numbers. It was priced like a special-edition car when new, and the used market has treated it like a collectible ever since. That is why a search for the GT2 RS price returns two very different answers, depending on whether you want the sticker or a recent sale.

This page covers the original price, the options that added to it, and the public sales that show where the market has gone. It does not predict where prices will move.

GT2 RS original MSRP

The original price, $293,200, is the manufacturer's suggested retail for the 2018 model year, before delivery, taxes, and options. Porsche built the GT2 RS in limited numbers, so the sticker was never the whole story for a buyer who wanted one.

Weissach package and other options

Options on a GT2 RS were meaningful, and the two below appear on a car sold at RM Sotheby's.

Fees and options

Item Price
Weissach package (on one car, per RM Sotheby's) $18,000
Lightweight magnesium wheels (on one car) $13,000

The Weissach package replaced certain components with lighter or carbon parts and was among the most sought-after additions. The magnesium wheels were a separate line item. Cars with both are generally the ones collectors want, which is one reason sale prices vary so much between otherwise similar examples.

GT2 RS auction and resale prices

Public results for the GT2 RS have been far above the original sticker. The rows below are individual sales, not averages.

Auction and resale

Item Price
2018 GT2 RS Weissach, 16 mi, RM Sotheby's Monterey Aug 2025 (Lot 172) $841,000
Low-mileage 991.2 GT2 RS (593 mi, Weissach, PTS), Bring a Trailer Jul 2026 $1,000,000
2018 GT2 RS, 25 miles, sold (cited by Carscoops Jul 2026) $710,000

Sources: RM Sotheby's: 2018 911 GT2 RS Weissach (Lot 172); Carscoops: GT2 RS million-dollar sale

The RM Sotheby's result is a 2018 Weissach car with only a handful of miles, sold at Monterey in August 2025. The Bring a Trailer figure is for a 593-mile Weissach car with Paint to Sample, as reported by Carscoops in July 2026. A third car, with 25 miles, sold for a lower price. Taken together they show a wide spread even among cars that were barely driven. Mileage is not the only variable, and the package, color, and the circumstances of the sale all matter.

These are results from a thin market. A handful of cars changed hands publicly, and a private sale could land anywhere. Do not assume the highest figure is typical or the lowest figure is a bargain.

Why GT2 RS prices vary so much

  • Weissach package. Cars with it are often valued above cars without.
  • Mileage. Collectors pay a large premium for near-zero-mile examples.
  • Paint and specification. Paint to Sample colors and rare option combinations draw attention.
  • Condition and provenance. Original owner history, documentation, and storage matter at this level.
  • Venue and timing. A major auction house, an online platform, and a private broker produce different results, and a sale a year earlier may not reflect today's market.

What to check before buying a GT2 RS

  1. Verify the VIN and full option list against the original build sheet. The Weissach package should be confirmed, not assumed.
  2. Review the history, including any accidents, paintwork, or modifications, with a vehicle history report and an inspection by a Porsche specialist.
  3. Confirm the mileage with service records.
  4. Ask how the price is structured at an auction, since the buyer's premium is added to the hammer price.
  5. Get an insurance quote before you commit. Policies on collectible cars often include conditions on use and storage, and rates vary by driver and location.
  6. Consider an appraisal if you are financing or insuring the car.

If you are buying as an investment or weighing tax questions, talk to a licensed financial or tax professional. This page lists reported prices and does not advise on them.

Frequently asked questions

The Weissach package on the RM Sotheby's car is listed at $18,000, and the lightweight magnesium wheels at $13,000.

How much does a used GT2 RS cost?

Publicly reported sales have ranged widely. A 25-mile car sold for $710,000, a 16-mile Weissach car sold at RM Sotheby's for $841,000, and a 593-mile Weissach car on Bring a Trailer sold for $1,000,000.
