Chevy Colorado Price: MSRP, Trims & Real-World Cost

Updated  1 source

2027 price range, destination included

$34,495 – $62,795

Midsize pickups look cheap in an advertisement and expensive on the lot. The Colorado is a good example: the gap between the cheapest and the priciest version is large, and the trim names do not make it obvious what you get for the difference.

The table below lists the 2027 Colorado in the crew cab, short box configuration. All prices include destination.

Price by trim (crew cab, short box), destination included

2WD versus 4WD pricing

Two trims come in both drive layouts, so you can see what four-wheel drive adds directly. The Work Truck 2WD is $35,095 and the Work Truck 4WD is $38,395. The LT 2WD is $38,695 and the LT 4WD is $41,995.

In both cases the 4WD version costs more. If you live where roads stay dry and you do not tow on loose surfaces, the 2WD may be all you need. If you see snow, mud or gravel often, the extra cost buys a real benefit.

The remaining trims, Trail Boss, Z71 and ZR2, are listed as 4WD only.

The off-road trims

The Trail Boss at $43,195 is the first step toward an off-road-oriented truck. The Z71 follows at $47,295, and the ZR2 sits at the top of this table at $52,295.

These trims cost more because they carry specific equipment for rough terrain. Before you pay for it, be honest about how often you will leave the pavement. Many buyers choose a trail-themed truck for the look and rarely use the capability.

Why the range is so wide

The headline range starts lower than any trim in the table above, because it covers configurations beyond the crew cab, short box setup shown here. The top of the range is higher than the ZR2 in the table for the same reason. If you want a different cab or bed, ask a dealer for that exact configuration.

What else goes on the bill

The figures on this page are the vehicle price plus destination. Your final amount will also include:

  • State and local sales tax, plus title and registration fees.
  • Dealer documentation fees.
  • Accessories such as bed liners, tonneau covers or running boards.
  • Any market adjustment the dealer charges when demand is high.

Request an out-the-door quote in writing from each dealer you contact. It is the only number that lets you compare offers fairly.

Buying a work truck

The Work Truck trim is meant for people who need a truck for a job. If you plan to use it for a business, ask a Chevrolet dealer about fleet or commercial programs, since eligibility and terms differ from retail offers. Tax treatment of a business vehicle depends on your situation, so talk to a licensed accountant.

Financing and insurance

Financing terms change with your credit, the loan length and current manufacturer incentives. Check the manufacturer's website for offers and compare them with a quote from your bank or credit union.

Insurance premiums for a pickup depend on where you live, how you use the truck and the trim. Ask for a quote on the exact version before you buy.

Picking the right Colorado

Match the truck to your actual use. A commuter who occasionally hauls home improvement supplies will be well served by the lower trims. Someone who tows regularly or drives unpaved roads should compare the 4WD trims. A buyer drawn to the ZR2 should test drive it, because the ride on pavement differs from the lower trims.
