Charizard GX Price Guide: Current Values & Sales

Updated  11 sources

Popular printing, ungraded

$768.10

Charizard GX cards come from the Sun & Moon era of the Pokémon Trading Card Game. Several different cards carry the name, spread across sets such as Hidden Fates and Burning Shadows. Their prices span a huge range, from modest for common holos to very high for the rarest versions. Match the set and the card number before you look up a price.

This page covers four printings: the Shiny Vault SV49 and the regular 9/68 from Hidden Fates, and the 20/147 and the secret rare 150/147 from Burning Shadows. All figures are live snapshots from trackers.

The four printings

  • SV49, Hidden Fates. A Shiny Vault card from the special Hidden Fates set.
  • 9/68, Hidden Fates. The regular holo from the same set.
  • 20/147, Burning Shadows. The standard holo from the main set.
  • 150/147, Burning Shadows. A secret rare, meaning its number is higher than the printed set size.

Two cards from the same set can have very different prices. SV49 and 9/68 both come from Hidden Fates, but one is a Shiny Vault card and the other is a regular holo, and the price gap shows it.

Ungraded prices

Raw means the card has not been sent to a grading company. Most buyers expect near mint condition behind a raw price.

The two trackers differ a little on each card. For the SV49, Pokemon Wizard shows $768.10 and PokePrices shows $592.50. That is a large gap for the same card, and it comes from different data sources. One uses TCGplayer listings, and the other uses recent sold listings. When two reputable trackers disagree this much, compare the recent sales yourself before you buy or sell.

The regular Hidden Fates 9/68 is much cheaper, at $10.03 to $10.68. The Burning Shadows 20/147 costs $26.46 to $15.89.

Ungraded prices for the 150/147 vary widely between trackers, so only graded figures are listed for it.

PSA 10 prices

A PSA 10 is a card that PSA scored at the top of its scale. Graded and raw cards trade as separate markets.

The Shiny Vault SV49 in PSA 10 sits at $1,368.70 to $1,400. The Burning Shadows secret rare 150/147 is far higher, at $7,300 to $7,600. The two sources agree fairly closely on the PSA 10 for every card listed.

The regular cards show the biggest relative gap between raw and graded. The Burning Shadows 20/147 goes from $15.89 raw to $350 in PSA 10 at the same tracker. Graded premiums depend on how hard it is for a copy to reach the top grade, a pattern this page does not measure.

What affects a GX price

  • Rarity. Secret rares and Shiny Vault cards usually cost more than regular holos.
  • Condition. Scratches, whitening, and off center printing lower raw prices.
  • Grade. A PSA 10 carries a premium, and lower grades sell for less.
  • Demand. Interest in Charizard cards changes over time.

Buying tips

Check the card number on the card against the listing. Ask for photos of the actual card, not stock images. For graded cards, check the certificate number on the grading company's site. Compare at least two trackers. A price far below both is a reason for caution, because counterfeit cards of high value Charizard exist.

Cards as investments

Some collectors treat cards as an investment. Prices can fall as well as rise, and past performance does not predict future prices. This page gives pricing information, not investment advice. For financial decisions, consult a licensed financial adviser.
