Chevy Trax Price: MSRP, Trims & Real-World Cost

The Trax is Chevrolet's smallest SUV and a favorite among shoppers who want a new vehicle without a high monthly payment. Its price depends mostly on which of the trims you choose, with the destination charge and dealer fees added afterward. Understanding each step helps you spot a quote that has drifted from the real price.

The Trax lineup climbs in clear steps. LS is the entry model, LT adds equipment, and ACTIV is the most expensive of the three listed here. An RS version also exists and is priced close to LT or ACTIV depending on package.

The spread between the cheapest and most expensive Trax is smaller than for most SUVs, so choosing the trim that has the features you actually use is a bigger decision than the price gap alone suggests. Look at the standard equipment list before paying for an upgrade.

All new Trax models carry a destination charge for delivery from the factory.

Because the Trax is inexpensive, the destination charge is a larger share of its price than on a luxury car. Add taxes and a documentation fee, and the out-the-door cost is noticeably higher than the sticker.

Car and Driver quotes a range that already includes the destination charge. That is why its numbers are higher than the MSRPs above.

One is the price before delivery, and the other is closer to the number printed on the window sticker. Use the same basis whenever you compare two sources.

The 2025 Trax started lower and topped out lower than the 2026 model, and its destination charge was lower too.

Part of the difference is the destination charge, and part is the base price. If a dealer has a leftover 2025 Trax, the lower sticker can translate into a real saving, though you should check for differences in equipment and the warranty start date.

• Trim. LS, LT, RS, and ACTIV have different standard equipment.
• Packages. Sunroofs, driver-assistance features, and appearance packages add to the price.
• Dealer practice. Some dealers sell at MSRP and others offer discounts. Smaller, cheaper cars sell quickly in some regions, which can limit negotiating room.
• Incentives. Chevrolet periodically offers rebates or low-rate financing. These change by month.
• Financing. For a lower-priced vehicle, the interest rate and loan term still make a large difference to the total paid.

The Trax was redesigned relatively recently, so used examples of the current generation are limited. Older Trax models are cheaper but are a different vehicle in size, styling, and features. When you compare a used older Trax with a new one, note how much the redesign changed, and check the warranty and safety features.

If you choose a used Trax, request service records, run a vehicle history report, and have an independent shop inspect it.

Because the Trax is priced low, many buyers pay for it with a loan instead of leasing. A lease can lower the monthly payment but leaves you with no ownership at the end, and mileage limits and wear charges apply. A loan costs more each month but builds toward a vehicle you can keep.

Compare the total you would pay over the length of each option and not only the monthly figure. Ask the dealer for the money factor or interest rate in writing, plus the down payment and fees included in the quote.
